Packaging Design (Task6)

Role of Packaging:

- Protective
Protecting the contents from the environment and vice versa. The packaging is intended to protect the goods from loss, damage and theft.
-Storage
-Loading and transport
Convenient goods handling entails designing transport packaging in such a manner that it may be held, lifted, moved, set down and stowed easily, efficiently and safely.
-Sales and promotion
Attracting the potential purchaser's attention and to have a positive impact upon the purchasing decision.
-Guarantee
By supplying an undamaged and unblemished package, the manufacturer guarantees that the details on the packaging correspond to the contents.
-Additional
The extent to which the packaging materials or packaging containers may be reused once the package contents have been used. The most significant example is the recycling of paper, paperboard and cardboard packaging as waste paper.

Some examples of packaging I consider good:

Paper packaging for Pietro Gala:
Fresh Chicken Agency, Russia, developed the brand name, the character and product design for a new Italian premium pasta. The character Pietro Gala is an Italian chief whose images a featured on every pack of different pastas.
Paper cardboard is used as the main material for packaging. Together with just one colour print it is being a very economic and environmentally friendly packaging.
One of the main ideas of the design company was also to emphasize the naturalness of pasta, which is reached with the simple look of the packaging.

Packaging for Honey Hunter:
The same design agency developed a packaging design and brand identity for honey products Honey Hunter.
The jars attract attention with simplicity of a design, and an evil karate bear character, who ''would do anything to get yummy honey''.
The jars are recyclable glass; and the visual identity is very distinctive which to my mind makes this packaging good.

Flour package:
Fresh Chicken agency developed a brand name, made a logo and designed a package for a flour brand  ”Bolshaya pol’za” (“A Great Sake”). The company produces healthy types of flour such as pea, corn, buckwheat and rice flours.
This package design is based on infographics. On the front side of the package one can see the list of flour recepies, and a measuring rule on the side helps to measure flour out.
Simple and bright colors make it easy to find a specific type on store shelves.
The packaging itself is a classic paper package with its cost-effectiveness and utility.
