SciFly-Sans (Task 1)

SciFly-Sans, created by Tomi Haaparanta, font designer from the Suomi Type Factory, for Flyerzone.

Tomi Haaparanta was born in Finland in 1967. He has studied Graphic Design in the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, and also in the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, where he discovered type design during a short course held by Phil Baines.
Tomi Haaparanta has been making typefaces for the past twenty years. He has considerable experience working as an Art Director for several agencies. Tomi has also worked as a type designer in HEL, where he designed typfaces for many Finnish and international clients including Protokid for Diesel Industry's kids wear department. Under his direction, HEL also produced a few typefaces of their own: the War font set and Denim set are currently distributed by T-26.
Tomi currently teaches type design at the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki and works as a graphic designer at Taivas Design. Additionally since six years ago, Tomi has dedicated a lot of his time to his Suomi Type Foundry.

There are a few particular letters in SciFly-Sans that I think are really eye-catchy. My favourite are upper case ''Y'' and ''G'', and lower case ''g'', ''m'', ''n'', ''r'' and ''w''. Even though lower case ''m'', ''n'', and ''w'' are not the newest and unique approach for these letters, to me, they are very attractive, and ''g'' ''sits'' really great within the context of other symbols.

Bold rounded fonts can be used various purposes. As they look very dynamic, positive and cheerful, they can be used in logotypes, eye-catchy titles or body texts.

SciFly-Sans somehow reminds me of the font used for Wacom logo, which also attracted my attention with its roundness and bold lines:
